There are many things about Osea Island that I find interesting. And it fascinates me how other people notice thinks I never thought of. On one occasion I bought my mother to the island. I thought the island would be the perfect place for her to relax,. We went on walks, explored every facility and I even cooked all the meals to ensure she was getting some real relaxation. But it was only when we were leaving the island and driving on the causeway, a roman built tidal road which connects the island to the mainland that she said something to me that made me think,” Why didn’t I think of that.”
My mother said it would have been so relaxing to just watch the water fill up the causeway and see how the tidal road would disappear slowly from view at high tide. She said this would be the ultimate relaxing thing to do. If only I had thought of that before. I have travelled so many times on the tidal road and concerned myself with ensuring it was low tide, that I never stopped to think that actually seeing and experiencing this amazing transformation could be an attraction all in itself. It brings to mind the expression, “it’s not the destination but the journey”.
