Osea is a tidal Island and is accessible via a mile long road for a 4 hour period every 12 hours. Outside of these times access is via boat (river taxi which takes 8 minutes costs £40.00 each way and must be pre-arranged) or helicopter (London/ Battersea Heliport, 20 mins).
Tide Times have been provided. They were correct at the time of printing, but please double check closer to the time in case there are any variances to the times. We cannot be held responsible if the tide times change.
Please be aware that if you use your sat-nav to not use Osea Island post code but rather use the Osea Island leisure park as this is your last point on the mainland before you cross the tidal road: the post code is CM9 4SA. Depending on what direction you are coming from try stay the side of Maldon, and Witham these are the nearest towns to Osea Island.
By Car:
- A40 Oxford Street
- Straight onto A401
- Straight onto A5201
- Turn left onto A10 Kingsland Road
- Turn right onto A104 (signposted Dalston, Hackney)
- Keep in left hand lane then at traffic signals turn left (no signs)
- At mini roundabout bear right onto Dalston Lane A104
- At traffic signals turn right onto the A107
- Turn right onto A102
- Straight onto A12
- At Redbridge roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Eastern Avenue A12 (signposted M25, Chelmsford)
- Remain on A12
- At Junction 20A branch left, then merge onto Bury Lane - B1137 (signposted Hatfield Peverel)
- At the T junction stay on the B1137 by turning left
- At Duke of Wellington Pub ( on the left) turn right onto Maldon Road - B1019 (signposted Maldon)
- The B1019 becomes the B1018
- Stay on the B1018 until it joins the A414 at a roundabout
- Take the A414 - first exit , to Langford Road
- At the next mini roundabout, turn right onto Holloway Road
- Follow the road until you go over a small bridge then you will come to Heybridge Square Roundabout, turn left.
- Follow this over another small bridge ( Tesco & Asda on your left) then at the next roundabout turn right onto Goldhanger Road.
- After a mile and a half take a small right hand turn labelled "Osea Island Leisure" ( look out for Osea Island leisure sign)
- Watch out for the speed bumps! Keep going straight on past the caravan site and a large hedge on your right, up and over the sea wall and onto the causeway.
- At low tide you can drive on the tidal road where eventaully after around a mile you will come acros an access gate. Please contact the telephone number provided to gain access.

By Train:
Depart Liverpool Street station to Witham Station less than 50 minutes journey Taxi rank outside, take to the Osea. ( During low tide times only) approx 15/20 minutes to Osea. Please be aware not all taxi's will cross the tidal road when you book with use details of taxi driver numbers to pre-arrange pick up or drop off - will be sent in your welcome pack by email.

By Helicopter:
Nearest air field is Battersea. 20 minutes
By Water Taxi: By arrangement only - Please arrange this direct with the water taxi prior to your arrival - details are provided in your welcome pack once you have booked to stay with us.
There is a parking lot where you can leave your car. We can arrange a water taxi to bring you to the island. This must be pre-arranged Average cost of £40.00 for each way.
Please be aware there is a 4 hour window by which the tides are low enough to cross over using the causeway by car. When making your reservation the tide times will be given to you to allow you the opportunity to come over by car.
If you miss the low tide time's water taxi can be arranged to pick you up but there will be a cost attached to this change of plans.
In normal circumstances you would have a regular check in and check out time. This does not apply on Osea and your check out time will correspond with the low tide times.
